Teenager in Court for Pouring Hot Water on Friend

The police on Thursday arraigned 19-year-old Patience John in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly pouring hot water on her friend due to jealousy.
The Prosecutor, ASP Rita Momoh, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 3, at Ewusu Street, Araromi Quarters, Ajelogo in Mile 12, Lagos.
She said the defendant unlawfully injured her friend, Miss Blessing Orgi, with the hot water  after she was seen with her boyfriend.
The prosecutor added that the complainant was in an undisclosed hospital receiving medical attention for the burns she suffered from the attack.
The offence, she said, contravened Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which stipulates seven years imprisonment for causing grievous harm.
John, who resides at Mile 12, Lagos, entered a `not-guilty’ plea to the one- count charge of grievous harm brought against her.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A Ajayi,  granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000, with one surety in like sum.
Ajayi said the surety should be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government for two years.
She adjourned  the case until November 11 for mention.
