N-SIP: Bauchi Trains 193 Cooperatives Societies

Bauchi State Government says it has begun the training of 193 cooperative societies to fast-track implementation of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) in the state.

Mrs Amina Katagum, N-SIP Focal Person in the state, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nion Monday in Bauchi.

Katagum said the trainees were selected from Ningi and Dass Local Government Areas of the state.

She said that 103 cooperative societies were selected from Ningi while 90 others from Dass, adding that they were being trained under Livelihood component of the programme.

She said the beneficiaries would receive grant at the end of the exercise adding they were also encouraged to form cooperative societies in their respective localities.

“The CCT programme has three stages including Base, Core Responsibility and Livelihood.

“We have series of sessions; the Life skills training will be delivered in 10 sessions while the Micro-Business skills training has 11 sessions.

“Bauchi State was selected to pilot the programme in the Northeast zone,” she said.

Katagum said the state had so far enrolled 63,030 households as against the 23,272 households captured at the inception of the programme in the state.

“This number is grossly inadequate compared to the population we have in the state.

“We are directed to enroll more people, we are in the process of enrolling additional 37,140 households and 10,877 school girls.

“The state selected girl child education under the Core Responsibility component to address the issue of out of school children.

“Girls within the age bracket of five to 18 years will receive a bi-monthly stipend of N10,000,” she said.
