Twenty Commissioners manning various ministries in Imo State have been relieved of their appointments.
Governor Hope Uzodimma who announced a sweeping change in his cabinet, retained only eight of the 28 commissioners.
He announced the dissolution of the cabinet after the routine State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, saying the action was to re-energise governance for optimum productivity.
In a joint media briefing, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Mbadiwe Emelumba, in company with the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie and the Media Adviser to Governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, explained that the Governor took the decision to fast track governance in line with the mission of the government to serve the people effectively.
“The governor promised to reconstitute his cabinet soon,” Emelumba said.
The Commissioners retained included those in the ministries of Finance, Science and Technology, Health, Works, Information, Youths and Sports, Women Affairs and Tourism.
