A boy aged six shot dead his younger sibling barely a day to the New Year in circumstances that has left residents of Tiga community in Kano State perplexed.

Inusa Usaini took his father’s fully loaded Dane gun in the morning on Saturday, December 30 and pulled the trigger with the barrel pointed at Usman Usaini, his five-year-old sibling who was playing at a corner of their home oblivious of what was in the offing.

The sound of a gunshot jolted the serenity of the neighbourhood as Usman lay stiff on the floor in a pool of blood, hit on the head by hot bullets from his dad’s gun.

He was however rushed to the Tiga General Hospital for treatment where he was confirmed dead.

His father, Mr. Usaini Adamu who hails from Tiga had kept his fully loaded gun in his wife’s room and went out at about 9.am on the ill-fated day when the incident occurred. He is in tears, pain and inconsolable.

Scudnews learnt the incident was reported to the Gwarmai Police Outpost at about 11.45am on the same day by the Village Head of Gwarmai in Bebeji Local Government Area of the State.

The police said an investigation is ongoing but Usman’s body has been released to his relatives for burial. It could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report if his father had been arrested.
