28 Abducted Baptist High School Students Regain Freedom

Twenty eight additional students of Bethel Baptist High School, Maraban Damishi, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, who were abducted by gunmen on June 5, have regained freedom.

Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State, Rev. John Hayab, confirmed the development on Sunday in Kaduna.

Two others had escaped from their abductors last week, when they were sent to fetch firewood.

Hayab said the 28 students regained their freedom on Saturday night, while 81 others are still in captivity.

He thanked Nigerians for their prayers and urged them not to relent until peace returned to the country.

Bandits had invaded the school and abducted an unspecified number of students in the early hour of June 5.

Spokesperson for the Kaduna State police command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, has also confirmed that the 28: student had regained their freedom, but did not give details.
