36 Bodies Pulled Out In Ikoyi Building Collapse

So far, the death toll in the Ikoyi, Lagos State building that collapsed on Monday has reached 36. Nine people have been rescued thus far.

The building a high-rise under construction located along Gerrard Road in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub collapsed on Monday afternoon.

This comes after emergency workers recovered more bodies from the rubble of the collapsed building. Rescue operations are still ongoing.

The Acting Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial Office of the National Emergency Management Agency, ( NEMA) Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said there was only one female out of the nine survivors.

The dead included three females and 33 males, the NEMA boss added.

On Tuesday, a day after the collapse, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had suspended the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Gbolahan Oki, indefinitely.
