7 AK47 Rifles Missing As Robbers  Attack Police Station, Banks In Kogi

Seven AK47 rifles and ammunition are yet to be accounted for following an attack on the Divisional Police headquarters and the Area Command in Ayingba, Kogi State by a daring gang of armed robbers who also raided Access Bank, First Bank and Union Bank.

A police Constable with Force Number 531620 identified as Jibrin Idoko, was killed in the surprise attack at about 4.30pm on Thursday, which left the police station and the Area Command office severely damaged.

Scudnews learnt that the robbers, who stormed the community riding on vehicles and motorcycles, overpowered the police guards at the divisional headquarters and Area Command office shooting rapidly and using dynamites in a simultaneous assault.  

In the coordinated raid, another group of the robbers wrecked havoc on three banks in the community during which they blew up security doors and Automated Teller Machines, ATMs, and carted away yet-to-be-ascertained cash.

A Sienna police patrol car and a private car belonging to the divisional police officer, DPO, were also reportedly damaged in the attack while the missing arms and ammunition are suspected to have been carted away by the robbers.

Scudnews however learnt that the police recovered one AK47 rifle from the robbers during the attack.
