Over seven thousand Students of Tertiary institutions in Benue State would soon heave a sigh of relief as efforts are being intensified to effect payment of their bursary allowances in the State.
The Director of Operations, evaluation and environment of Benue state Scholarship board Mrs. Felicia Alubo gave the hint during an interview on Wednesday In Makurdi, the Benue State Capital.
Alubo explained that the last payment was made between 2016-2017 from which  over twenty thousand indigenous students benefited from.
She however added that after effecting the arrears, nothing has been remitted to them until now as payment is ongoing to clear the backlog entitlements between 2018 -2019.
Alubo, also disclosed that the total figure of students enrolled on the entire list could be over  forty thousands.
According to her between 2017-2019, there have been additional requests for grants of twenty thousands indigenous scholarships though we are yet to decide on the matter.
She enjoined those awaiting payment to exercise patience as approval made in respect for their entitlements would soon be effected.
In her words, the leaders of students’ union government and officials of the board are working together towards ensuring the release of the funds.
