77-Year-old Imo Monarch Kidnapped In Anambra

The traditional ruler of Akpulu Town in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, South-east Nigeria, Eze Umejei Dimogwu 11, has been abducted by armed men in Anambra State.

Aged 77, Eze Umejei Dimogwu11 was reportedly driving in a Toyota Highlander Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, on Tuesday, May 14, when he was seized by five yet-to-be-identified men wielding sophisticated rifles along Uga-Ezinifite Road.

The gunmen were said to have committed the act while riding in an unmarked blue Lexus SUV but later abandoned their operational vehicle which has been recovered by the police at Aguata Division of the Anambra State police command.

A resident of Akpulu Town, Mr. Ikechukwu Chukwuma, was said to have reported the incident to the police at Aguata Division, following which the divisional police officer, DPO, led tactical teams of police operatives to the scene of crime.

The police said efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted king.
