Benue Govt Clamps Down on Land Speculators, Illegal Miners

Benue State Commissioner for Land Survey and Solid Mineral, Honourable Bernard Unenge says land speculators as well as illegal miners in the state risk being prosecuted.

Honourable Unenge made this declaration during an interview with Scudnews in Makurdi where he lamented over the Spate and activities of land speculators as well as illegal Miners operating across some local  government areas of the state.

The Commissioner disclosed that his ministry has set in motion machineries to hunt and track down offenders as they will be made to face the wrath of the law.

He explained that Mineral resources such as Gypsum, Cement, Coal Fuel amongst others is deposited in large quantities in the state.

According to him, unwholesome activities of fraudsters who illegally take such mineral deposits is not welcomed in the state and anyone caught would be prosecuted and sent to serve jail terms of between 15- 20 years.

He reiterated the resolve of the Benue state government towards ensuring total elimination of these fraudsters within its territory.
