The Chairman, APC UK chapter, Dr Phillip Ideawor, said this on Thursday in Lagos State.

“The widespread nature of the national discontent is mirrored by the involvement of Nigerians in the Diaspora. Therefore, a well constructed, appropriately timed calls, I believe, is in order.

“We all have families and communities and our greatest attachment is our home country.

“Most of our people do not really understand what is playing out and its implications on their lives and livelihoods.

“We owe it to our families and communities to educate them further on the dangers of secession in a country that has coexisted and depended on its diversity to progress.

“The weapon used by break up agitators is religious and ethnic sentiments which need to be explained to our people.”

Ideawor noted that the recent Democracy Day on June 12 must remain a wakeup call for Nigerians to ensure that the nation’s democracy was jealously guided.

He said the only way to solve the challenges in Nigeria would be by a united force of the people against enemies of state.

“All over the world, government cannot fight crime alone without input of the people.

“Kidnapping, banditry, robbery and other crimes will stop when the people rise in unison to say enough.

“Perpetrators of these crimes live among the people and it is the duty of the people to inform security agencies of persons whose means of livelihood is not clear for investigations.”

He, however, called on the National Assembly to speed up the process of producing a viable and more acceptable constitution for the nation.
