3 Worshippers Abducted As Armed Men Attack Church In Ogun

Some unknown gunmen, in the early hours of Sunday, invaded a white garment church and kidnapped three worshippers in the Obada area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The church, Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ona Ara Parish, located along with Railway Station, was stormed during a vigil.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident to newsmen, saying the anti-kidnapping unit of the command had been mobilised to the area.

It was gathered that the three victims taken away by the gunmen were, Adebare Oduntan, Ifeoluwa Alani-Bello, and Mary Oliyide.

A source informed that the kidnappers are asking for a ransom of N6 million before the three worshippers could be freed.

The police spokesman, Oyeyemi said that the command had warned churches against night programmes in areas considered to be isolated.

“If at all such places of worship want to have a night programme, they should inform the police so that police patrol could be extended to such area and adequate security provided,” he said.
