4-Month-old Baby Kidnapped, As Bandits Seize Blind Pastor, Widow, 5 Children In Abuja Satellite Community

Dare-devil men of the underworld introduced a new dimension to their heinous crimes with the abduction of a four-month-old baby girl at Nzur Village, Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.

The evil men who committed the beastly act however met their waterloo after collecting a ransom of N800, 000 to release the baby from captivity, Scudnews learnt late Thursday.

At about 6.pm on Tuesday, May 17, a group of hunters at Hawul reportedly arrested five of the perpetrators, following a tip-off on a spot where they were hibernating.

Fatima Sale, the five-month-old baby was reportedly seized after the men stormed the home of her parents to perpetrate the crime.

Those arrested were identified as Sale Buba, Musa Haro, Abdu Isah, Wada Hassan and Nera Ardo, who was wounded in an attempt to escape and was taken to a public health facility for treatment under tight security.

The police said all the suspects are in custody and hail from Shalengwa Village, Kwajafa District, Hawul, Borno State.  

A security source told Scudnews that the suspects have confessed to the crime and had admitted collecting a sum of N800, 000 as ransom for the baby’s freedom.

The police said investigation was in progress to unravel other escapades of the gang before prosecuting the suspects.

In a related development which occurred on the same day, a blind pastor, a widow and five of her children were abducted barely a few days after they moved into a new building at the Abattoir stream area of Abaji, a satellite community in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The armed men were said to have stormed their home at about 10.30pm on Tuesday, May 17, shooting sporadically to scare residents.

A team of policemen and vigilantes reportedly arrived the scene in response to a distress call hours after the bandits had captured and disappeared from the scene with their victims who were yet to savour the joy of moving into a new apartment when the armed men struck.

The police said anti-kidnapping operatives were on the trail of the armed men to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to book.
