Woman Injects Self To Death In Lagos Hospital

A female Healthcare Assistant was found dead on a bed on the hospital where she worked in befuddling circumstances that has triggered a suicide investigation by the police.

The body of 27-year-old Ms Victoria Eseohe Osazuwa was discovered in a locked room at Maritol Medical Centre located on No. 67 Sam Shonibare Street, Surulere, Lagos on New Year Eve when she was expected to be on duty but was not seen by her colleagues.

It turned out to be the unforeseen after calls put across her mobile telephone rang out without a response and agitated staff trailed the ring tone to a room in the hospital which was eventually forced open and she was found lifeless on top of a bed at about 5.pm on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

Sources told Scudnews that the police visited the crime scene after Dr Charles Ogueri, medical director of the hospital reported the incident at about 9.50pm on the day it occurred.

It was learnt that no mark of violence was found on her upon a physical examination by a team of detectives who evacuated her body to the morgue at the Infectious Disease Hospital, IDH, Yaba, Lagos for autopsy.

Preliminary police investigation pointed to a case of suicide and Ms Osazuwa is suspected to have injected herself to death as some used injections, syringes with different types of drugs were recovered in the room after a search by the police, a senior officer who does not want his name mentioned hinted Scudnews.

He said an in-depth investigation into the incident is ongoing.
