Austria coach Franco Foda is upset that very few of their fans will be able to support his team in the Euro 2020 last 16 clash with Italy on Saturday.

The match is scheduled for London, where British entry rules remain strict amid the coronavirus pandemic.

UEFA have done a deal with the British government to allow more access for the semi-finals and final at Wembley but not the last 16 games.

Austria regulations for those returning from London also hamper travel.

“It makes no sense playing in London,” Foda said on Wednesday.

“Health comes before everything. But looking at the entry rules, given the virus variant in England, it would be madness if our fans cannot be there.”

Austria have never made it this far at a Euros.

“It is not everyday we are in the last 16,” Foda added. In this case, I hope for the fans that a solution is found. One possibility would be to move the venue.

I hope that as many fans as possible can accompany us. That is my heart’s desire.”
