Gunmen Abduct 20 Women, Children In Night Raid

Twenty women and children were seized and whisked away by a gang of armed men at about 9.45pm on Sunday, January 21, Scudnews has learned.

The identities and ages of the victims could not be immediately ascertained as of the time of filing this report but the incident occurred at Tashar Na Gulle village Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

A team of led by the Divisional Police Officer, Batsari Division arrived the scene moments after the gunmen who had fired volleys of gunshots left the community with their victims.

“They picked women and children as most of the men had fled”, a local who simply gave his name as Ahmed told Scudnews  

The police said intensive bush-combing is ongoing to rescue the captives.

Meanwhile, four bandits were killed on Monday, January 22, in Kankara, also in Katsina State, when a joint team comprising the police and members of the state’s Community Watch Corps stormed the residence of a bandits’ commander popularly known as Yellow and engaged the gang in a gun duel.

The team also burnt down the building in the dawn raid, during which two motorcycles were recovered while other members of the gang escaped.
