The Bauchi State Government has started a two-day sensitisation workshop for its civil servants to prepare them for the promotion examination scheduled for January 9, 2021.
Alhaji Aliyu Jibo, the Head of the Civil Service (HOS) in the state, addressed the 1,800 workers on Tuesday in Bauchi.
He said the workshop was aimed at preparing the eligible civil servants for the forthcoming promotion examination.
Jibo said the importance of the workshop could not be over emphasized, saying it would enhance the performances of the workers during and after the examination.
He added that the Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration’s determination and commitment toward a robust civil service for the state would add value and enhance professionalism.
The HOS urged the participants at the workshop to concentrate on what the resource persons would be teaching them, and especially, during the question and answer session adding that the participants would be exposed to seven critical areas which would include: the History of the Nigerian Civil Service, Public Service Regulations, Code of Ethics for Public Officers, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
He listed other areas as: Financial and Stores Regulations, Public Procurement Law in Bauchi State, ICT and its usefulness in the Conduct of Public Service.
He said the promotion examination was introduced in 2009 and an autonomous promotion examination board was duly constituted with representation from the government and the organised labour adding that the policy had so far impacted positively on career progression, the determination of every civil servant’s progress through capacity building, training and retraining of the workforce.
The workshop is organised by the state government in collaboration with Dugge Management Services Ltd., who provided the resource persons.
