Barrister Suleiman Tanko Beji has been elected chairman of the Niger State chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
He garnered 2092 votes to beat his rival, Engr. Mukhtar Ahmed Suleja, who scored two votes at the August 7, 2021 state congress held at the party’s headquarters in Minna, the state capital.
Declaring the results, chairman of the Electoral Committee and Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu said, Tanko Beji pulled 2092 votes to defeat Ahmed who pulled 2 votes while 8 votes were voided.Â
A total number of 2305 delegates were accredited for the exercise.
Beji immediately accepted his election after the announcement of results and promised to carry every party member along.
Over 30 other executives positions were also filled at the congress in which 11 were contested while all others were unopposed but votes were casted and counted.
