At least 6, 000 intending livestock guards in Benue state are currently undergoing screening under the ministry of Agriculture and natural resources.
The State Director of livestock under the ministry of agriculture and natural resources in Benue State, Dr. Edward Amali in an encounter with Scudnews in Makurdi, disclosed there are ongoing screenings to ascertain the  accurate number of workforce  in each local government area of the State.
Amali said plans are in place that after successfully completing their verification and being profiled, with their designated ranks and  positions, the guards would also be issued identity cards.
He added that they would be accorded appropriate remunerations in accordance with rules of the livestock regulations of the State.
He also said that since livestock has been incorporated under his department, those technical details are needed to carry out comprehensive documentation.
In his View, these segments of people are enforcing the Anti -grazing law on violators and subsequently impounding the animals and therefore ought to be encouraged to put in their best.
