Benue State government has announced giant strides in science and technology, with the construction of ventilators, disinfection tunnels and hand sterilizers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic which ravaged the globe with devastating effects.
The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Godwin Oyiwone, made the disclosure at the weekend when he featured as guest at a forum organized by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State chapter. He said with the development, the state is set for advancement in science and technology.
 Oyiwone, who expressed optimism of improvement in the feat, said Governor Samuel Ortom was working assiduously towards mass production and distribution of essential equipment and accessories required to all the 23 local government councils to flatten the COVID-19 curve in the state.
He said a sum of N5million was expended for construction of the various items and efforts had been intensified to produce more soon, just as he assured that the locally produced items were safe for use by members of the public.
The Commissioner appealed to relevant stakeholders for their support to enable the state government actualize its dream of technological advancement and explosion to enhance development in all sectors of the economy.
