A young man in company with his father displayed uncommon bravery on Wednesday, October 6 when they came under attack by two armed bandits while working on their farm at Isa village in Sokoto State.

The bandits armed with Ak47 rifles had reportedly swooped on them at noon and gruesomely murdered his father, Malam Bila in cold blood.

But the bandits faced the unexpected when the deceased’s son Ibrahim Malam Bila summoned courage and sprang a counter attack in a bid to save his live.

His heroic act paid off as he successfully disarmed one of the bandits of his AK47 rifle while the other fled the scene in fright.

Apparently overwhelmed by emotion, 20-year-old Ibrahim threw the weapon away in the forest and ran home unhurt to narrate the unpleasant encounter.

His shocking tale triggered a reprisal as youths reportedly mobilized and attacked a group of Fulani women who walked into Isa village at the wrong time, oblivious of the incident suspected to have been perpetrated by bandits of Fulani extraction.

Reports indicated that one of the women was killed by the irate youths.

Scudnews learnt that a team of policemen drafted to the community to forestall an escalation of violence were stunned as Ibrahim recounted how he was able to disarmed one of the bandits after he watched his father’s gory murder.

Ibrahim’s narration of the encounter in a statement to the police spurred a swift mobilization to the crime scene where the AK47 rifle with Breech number 941301833 which he seized from one of the bandits and threw in the forest was recovered. His father’s body was also recovered.

The police said investigation has commenced on the incident and for Ibrahim, it was a miraculous close shave.
