Less than 12 hours after abducting 27 students and 15 other during an attack on the Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State, during which a student was shot dead, armed bandits intensified their onslaught with an offensive on some communities in Gurmana ward in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
Sarkin Zama, Barkin Kogi, Siyiko and other neighbouring communities were invaded on Wednesday evening in an operation which lasted for hours.
At least on villager has been reported killed and two others injured, but a resident of one of the communities, Sani Kokki, said scores had sustained varied degrees of injuries and a yet-to-be-ascertained number of person abducted.
“Unarmed and peace-loving locals have been abandoned to their fate as countless deadly attacks have become a daily occurrence. We live at the mercy of these bandits”, he lamented.
