President Muhammadu Buhari says he has given the Police instructions to be ruthless in dealing with insecurity situations in the country.
Making a rare media appearance on ‘The Morning Show’ on Arise News, on Thursday, the President said one of his biggest concerns is the insecurity situation in the North, where people of the same culture attack one another.
“In the North-West, you have people over there stealing each other’s cattle and burning each other’s villages,” he said.
“Like I said ,we are going to treat them in the language they understand. We have given the Police and the Military the power to be ruthless. You watch it in a few weeks’ time there will be difference.”
There are myriads of insecurity issues in many parts of the country. Insurgency and banditry in the North-East and North-West, kidnapping, banditry and communal clashes in the Middle Belt and South-West, and attacks by unknown gunmen in the South-East.
Buhari had earlier ordered the Police to shoot on sight in the Southeast, an order followed by reports of human rights violations in the region by the Police.
