Residents of Katari, a community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State had a perplexing experience which will not easily fade away from their memories.
At about 11am on Friday, March 1, a member of the community located 71 kilometers away from Abuja, the nation’ capital, spotted a dog with a human hand in its mouth. It was a scary and befuddling spectacle for 31-year-old Mr. Vincent Bitrus, and he drew the attention of other residents to his strange find.
It was clearly a sign of an untoward occurrence and Bitrus immediately mobilised youths in the community for a feverish search which lasted for hours with the dog in tow.
The search party eventually found the decomposed body of a human in the bush, but they were unable to recognize the dead person.
Back home, Bitrus headed to the Katari police station at about 6.pm and reported the incident amidst confusion as to whether the body was a victim of bandits attack or not.
Scudnews however learnt that the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of the station dispatched a patrol team to the scene, which took photographs of the body and released it to members of the community for burial.
Mansir Hassan, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, and spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command could not be reached on the development as of the time of filing this report, but a senior police officer who does not want his name mentioned, confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it is true and investigation is ongoing but for now, we are looking at it as a case of sudden and unnatural death”.
