A drunk man who stole a tractor caused damage worth almost 100,000 euros, German police said early Tuesday.
The 23-year-old from Radevormwald in the western German state of North Rhine Westphalia told police he was walking around after a drinking spree on Monday night when he noticed the tractor.
He stole the tractor, which was fitted with a four-metre-wide snow plough, and set off, leaving behind what police called a wave of devastation.
At around 7 pm (1800 GMT) police received a report that a tractor with a snow plough had damaged a parked car and left the scene, further reports followed.
The tractor was found abandoned in a supermarket car park with the driver nearby.
He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs, Police took him into custody.
So far, investigations show that he damaged five cars, the facade of a house, a fence and a garage.
Some of the damage was considerable, police said.
Police also mentioned a collision with a Volkswagen bus. It’s driver sustained minor injuries and the bus itself was severely damaged. (dpa)
