Edo Discharges 20 COVID-19 Patients

Edo State Government on Thursday discharged 20 persons under treatment in COVID-19 isolation centres in the state. 17 of the affected persons, who have now tested negative for the novel coronavirus, were discharged from the Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin-City; one from University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) and the remaining two from Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua.

Governor Godwin Obaseki made this known in a tweet on his twitter handle, @GovernorObaseki, saying the latest development brings the number of COVID-19 discharged patients in the state to 34. He disclosed that a patient who reported late for treatment in one of the isolation facilities died as a result of the virus.

“We have discharged 20 persons from our #COVID_19 isolation facilities. 17 are from Stella Obasanjo Hospital; 1 from @ubthng and 2 others from @ISTH_Irrua. So far, 34 persons have been discharged. A patient, who reported late for treatment, was lost to the virus. Stay safe,” the governor tweeted.

As of Thursday morning, 89 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in Edo State out of a total of 4,971 cases across the federation.

Governor Obaseki had earlier announced the signing into law of the Edo State Incident Action Plan (IAP) for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The plan outlines planning, financing and implementation strategies in containing the pandemic. The document also captured all the budgetary allocations, expenditures and strategic planning along the different pillars of intervention.
