The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed a special patrol team to all busy roads in Kuje Area Council in Abuja to ensure free flow of traffic during Eid el-Fitr celebration.
The Unit Commander, Mr Eugene Nwabuike, on Wednesday in Kuje said one of the objectives of the special patrol was prompt response to accidents. According to him, the team will cover all busy roads in the area to decongest traffic and enforce traffic rules and regulations.
“A lot of people may decide to travel for the holiday; we don’t want to record crashes on the roads; that is why we mobilised our men to ensure safe driving. We have also dispatched our team to Gwagwalada roads because of ongoing construction, to ease traffic.
It is only the living that celebrates; so, motorists should reduce their speed and make sure their tyres are in in good condition. They should also check their windscreen and wipers.’’
Nwabuike said the FRSC would use the opportunity to ensure motorists and other road users’ compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
He added that FRSC personnel on duty had been directed to liaise with other strategic stakeholders within their operational areas for needed logistics and security support.
