Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) and his wife, Zeenat, have been released from a Correctional Centre in Kaduna, where they had been incarcerated on a long, tortuous journey that spanned six years.
They breathed an air of freedom on Wednesday evening, their counsel, Femi Falana SAN, has reportedly confirmed.
El-Zakzaky and his wife were discharged and acquitted of the charges against them by Justice Gideon Kurada of a Kaduna High Court on Wednesday, after their arrest and trial since 2015.
The Court had ordered their immediate release, freedom at last.
