A former General Manager with Dangote Industries Limited, Mojisola Aladejobi, and two others were on Tuesday convicted and sentenced to jail terms by a Lagos State High Court for insurance fraud.
Aladejobi and the two other convicts, Balogun Omololu Alaba and Raymond Akanolu, were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)Â Â on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and attempt to obtain money by false pretence to the tune of $32,000
The defendants had sometime in October, 2014, allegedly conspired among themselves in Lagos to defraud Dangote Industries Limited of the sum of $32,000 by inflating the premium for the renewal of insurance policy cover for its Hawker Aircraft with registration No. 5N-DGN.
The defendants pleaded ‘not guilty’ of the offence, which the prosecution said, is contrary to section 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, No. 11 of 2011, leading to their full trial.
During the trial, the prosecution counsel, S.O.Daji and Babatunde Sonoiki, called witnesses and tendered documents that were admitted in evidence by the Court.
In his judgment, Justice S.S. Ogunsanya found the defendants guilty of the offence and sentenced them to seven years imprisonment each on both counts of the charge.
