She shows no mercy. Reputed to be dangerous and vicious, the demon queen is a harbinger of pain, sorrow, anguish and death, who preys on men and leaves no trails in her exploits. But until recently when she spread her tentacles to Abuja, men in Federal Capital Territory, FCT, had lived freely with the opposite sex especially single women. No more.
A close shave on Saturday, December 9, 2023 faced by a resident of Kobi Makarata in Guzape District of Nigeria’s capital city, Dr. Leonard Ngutor Dugguh, has triggered apprehension among male residents after a 27-year-old woman, Patience Danlami, described as a “demon queen”, was caught in stunning circumstances at Dugguh’s home.
It could not be immediately ascertained if she was his acquaintance, but Patience who resides in Suleja, Niger State, had visited Dugguh at his residence on Friday, December 8 and left same day unknown to him that she came on a mission and had stealthily gone with a spare key to his home.
Patience returned at about 12.15pm the next day while Dugguh was away to perfect her deadly plot. With the spare key in her possession, she swiftly gained access into the apartment, moved into the bedroom and hid under the bed waiting to launch a blistering attack on her prey on his return. It was a long wait till late night on Saturday, December 9, but it turned out to be a failed mission.
A rare display of vigilance by Dugguh was his saving grace upon his return home as he spotted someone strange under his bed and raised the alarm which momentarily attracted a crowd. When the uninvited female guest was eventually dragged out of hiding, it was a demon queen armed with a locally made pistol, facemask and bunch of keys, who had visited Dugguh the previous day.
She was at the verge of being lynched by a perplexed and angry crowd when police operatives at the Asokoro Division of the FCT police command on routine patrol arrived the scene following a distress call rescued and whisked her away.
Confirming the development, a senior police officer who does not want his name mentioned, described the incident as a novel crime. He said, “She is in custody and investigation has commenced to unmask other members of her syndicate as we suspect that it is an organized crime. We recovered a local pistol, facemask and a bunch of keys from her, but I assure you that we will get to the root of this crime”.
In the meantime, caution is the word for male residents of Abuja amidst palpable fear of an influx of “demon queens”.
