A female cashier of an old generation bank has been arraigned before a Tinubu magistrates court in Lagos for alleged illegal withdrawal of a sum of two million naira from customers’ accounts.
Jessica Ogba, aged 32, withdrew the money from accounts belonging to the bank’s customers without authorization, the police prosecutor, ASP Ben Ekundayo, told the court on Monday.
He said the accused committed the offence at about 11.am on January 25 at the Murtala Muhammed Way, Ebute-Metta, Lagos branch of the bank, in contradiction of Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
“Ogba, a cashier, unlawfully withdrew the sum of N2 Million from some customers’ bank account without any authorization,” Muhammed told the court.
However, she pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge and the magistrate, Mr. A.A. Paul granted her bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum. He adjourned the case till April 5, for hearing.
