Mrs Patricia Idiakhoa, National Chairperson, Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Women Group, (NAWORG), has called for transformation of women entrepreneurial status to boost the nation’s economy.
Idiakhoa made the call at the inauguration of Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Women Group (BAWOG) into NAWORG on Wednesday in Badagry.
The group also used the occasion to commemorate the celebration of the 2020 International Day of Girl-Child with the theme: ”My Voice, Our Equal Future”.
Idiakhoa, who spoke as the Special Guest, said: “It is imperative to consolidate on our success to further transform women entrepreneurial status to boost the nation’s economy”.
She called on the general public to assist the women group in ensuring that adolescent girls were inspired to become successful women.
“I call on all to lend a helping hand in ensuring that our adolescent girls are inspired to become the future women leaders that they aspire to become” the chairperson said.
Idiakhoa described the group as a forum for business women interested in the welfare of fellow women. Your inauguration today marks the beginning of a fresh journey in the advancement of the NACCIMA Business Women Group (NAWORG)”.
In a keynote address, Dr Dele Giwa, Deputy Provost, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Ijanikin, said mothers need to stand in for modelling of their children.
Giwa said this was the reason why they were working, urging them to give their children moral upbringing and education.
She said males and females could be equal in every aspect of life, adding that women still need to submit to their husbands in marriage.
“A male and female could be equal, but they are not equal in marriage. The head of the organogram in marriage is the man, not because of the marriage, but because God is involved. Nowadays, parents are getting too far from their children. Parents are not to be relegated to the background, if you’re on analogue, you have to upgrade to digital, because what interest your children must interest you”.
In his remarks, the President of BACCIMA, Alhaji Fatai Shokunbi, said voices of young girls and women should no longer be ignored in our communities and business places.
