A 35-year-old man sacrificed his life in defense of his teenage daughter when a gang of gunmen invaded his home at the outskirts of Chikuku village, a community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The man identified as Lucky Chimezie, was reportedly shot on the head at close range by the gunmen who invaded his residence at about 12.50am on Tuesday, February 2, on a kidnap mission.

Locals said the man died on the spot and the armed men took away his daughter, Chioma Chimezie, aged 12.

A security team comprising the police, vigilantes and hunters which was said to have arrived at the scene after the gunmen had left, reportedly evacuated Chioma’s father to the Kuje General Hospital where he was certified dead.

The police said his body has been deposited at the morgue of University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada for autopsy and security operatives were on the trail of the gunmen with a view to rescuing the abducted girl.
