Four staff of a leading engineering construction firm, Setraco Nigeria Limited, were Tuesday, abducted on the waterways of Torugbene community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The victims were identified as Peregufi Kilakime, Anthony Okosu, Collins Agada and Super Odibo, all male.
They were reportedly whisked away in a commando style by three yet-to-be identified armed men operating on a speedboat at about 1.30pm while dredging sand at Opoukade creek in the riverside Torugbene community.
Scudnuews learnt that the incident was reported to the police by one Mr. Millionaire Ogbowei, a Chief Security Officer (CSO) for the road construction project in Torugbene at about 6.pm on Tuesday, June 23.
As of the time of filing this report, spokesperson for the Delta State police command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, could not be reached for comments, but a senior police officer at the command headquarters confirmed the incident.
He said efforts have been intensified by detectives at the Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Asaba, the state capital, to rescue the victims and arrest perpetrators of the act.
