Gunmen Abduct Fubara In Rivers Waterfront

Dare-devil armed men triggered tension and commotion as they fired sporadic gunshots in a kidnap operation which left residents in fear when the smoke cleared.

A staccato sound of gunfire rend the air at the Okrika Waterfront in Borokiri area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on arrival of the armed men who reportedly came through the river as they abducted and whisked away Dr. Aribibia Fubara, a staff of the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue.

It could not be immediately ascertained if the victim is a relative of the Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The police said a team of crack detectives are trailing the perpetrators of the incident which occurred at about 7.40pm on Saturday, August 24, just as efforts have been intensified to rescue the victim.
