Three persons including a girl and her father have been reportedly abducted by a gang of armed men from their residence in Kwaita Kwali, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The man identified as Ugochukwu Madu, his daughter, Chinasa Madu, and another resident whose name was simply given as Chinedu, were said to have been whisked away in broad daylight after the gunmen invaded the community at about 10.30am on Wednesday, shooting sporadically.
Sources told Scudnews that police operatives in an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and Rapid Response Squad (RRS) drafted to the scene of crime arrived after the gunmen had disappeared with the victims.
The development followed the killing of a soldier on Thursday by suspected bandits while he was in transit aboard a commuter bus along the Lokoja-Abuja road.
It was learnt that the soldier identified as Private Asogba Temitope who was deployed in Yobe State, was travelling in a commercial bus when it was attacked by gunman who opened fire in a bid to force it to a halt around Ozi area of Kogi State.
Sources said apart from the soldier who was felled by bullets, the suspected kidnap attempt by the gunman was unsuccessful as the driver of the bus drove to safety.
It was further learnt that on the same day, gunmen shot at another commuter bus at Gaba area also on the Lokoja-Abuja road, during which a resident of Kibiya area of Kano State simply identified as Aminu, was reportedly killed.
The police said the soldier’s body has been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, for autopsy, while the body of Aminu was released to his relatives for burial in line with Islamic rites even as investigation into the incidents continued.
