The Russian Embassy in Washington said on Tuesday that half of all cyberattacks against the country’s Central Election Commission during its parliamentary election over the weekend originated in the United States.
The embassy which made the allegation in a statement said the attacks were aimed at discrediting the Russian electoral system.
“We note that during the current election, the Central Election Commission faced an unprecedented number of cyberattacks.
“At the same time, 50 percent of them are recorded from the United States.
“The purpose of such hacks was to discredit our electoral system,” the statement said on Monday.
