Benue State Police Command, on Wednesday, said it had arraigned 205 suspects in court between February and May, 2021, out of which, 131 suspects were taken to Custodial Centre and awaiting trial for armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping and mischief by fire, among other crimes.
The state Commissioner of Police, Audu Madaki, disclosed this while parading some of the suspects before newsmen at the command headquarters in Makurdi.
Madaki further revealed that 120 cases were generated from Police Divisions and Area Commands, while 85 came from the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.
He said within the period review, a total of six AK-47 rifles, one G-3, three double barrel and 22 locally made rifles as well as 627 live ammunition and 27 live cartridges were recovered as exhibits from the suspects.
Meanwhile, the acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has honoured some officers in the command with awards for achievements ranging from courage, confidence and professionalism capacity, dexterity, impressive performance and effective supervision.
The awards which were handled by a steering committee in the state command, were given to the deserving police officers by the state CP.
Those honoured included CSP Justin Gberinyer, Commander of Operation Zenda, SP Ojerinde Nurudeen Ishola, DPO Daudu, SP Danjuma Ibrahim, DPO Katsina-Ala and DSP Tersoo Ugbe, Safer Highways.
Others were DSP Catherine Sewuese Anene, PPRO, DSP Benjamin Achimugu, Ado Local Government Area and ASP Danlami Usman, Cordon and Search in Sankera.
