The lifeless bodies of a man, his wife and their two children were found in their home in the early hours of Tuesday, July 19, as homicide detectives puzzle on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
55-year-old Abubakar Umar and his wife, Hadiza, aged 35, were recovered dead overnight in their home at about 7.30am alongside their two children –Mansur, aged 10 and 7-year-old Ibrahim.
They were found dead in their home at Sabon Gari, Riba district in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State after neighbours opened the door into their apartment when none of them was seen outside in the morning.
A resident, Hassan Osho who reported the incident at the Riba police station about 30 minutes after the horrible find, said the mouths of the deceased family members were foaming.
The police have momentarily classified the incident as a case of sudden and unnatural death even as the cause is suspected to be food poisoning, according to a senior police officer who craved anonymity.
He said investigation is ongoing.
