Hours after a gang of yet-to-be-identified armed men snuffed life out of Dr. Terkula Suswam, elder brother of a former governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam, the police have disclosed how the act was committed.
Catherine Anene, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and spokesperson for the state police command, gave graphic details of how the crime was committed in a statement on Wednesday.
She said the deceased and one of his aides simply identified as Mr. Solomon, were seated opposite his residence, Elohim Plaza, at Anyiin, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, when the gunmen drove in a Toyota Camry car at and pumped hot bullets into their bodies.
Anene further said a team of police officers on patrol in the area rushed to the scene on receipt of the report at about 7.30pm, and evacuated the victims to NKST Hospital, Anyiin, where they were certified dead and their corpses were deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
Anyiin town, she said, has been cordoned off by additional police teams deployed to assist the Division to check further crime in area.
“While commiserating with family members and friends of the deceased, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet investigation to ensure that the perpetrators of this gruesome murder are apprehended and justice is served”, the police assured.
