Humanitarian Organisation Trains 31 Orphans in Entrepreneurship Courses in Yola

The North East  Humanitarian Innovation Hub ( NEHIH) based in Yola,  Adamawa, has trained 31 orphans in various entrepreneurship skills for future self-employment opportunities.
Mary Igbazua, the founder of the innovation, disclosed this during the graduation of the orphans at the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp on Sunday in Yola.
Igbazua said that the trainees were mainly  orphans displaced by the Boko Haram insurgents in  Borno, adding that “the event marks the graduation of 31  participants from the North East Children’s Trust ( NECT). They had undergone various  capacity building courses ranging from entrepreneurship to financial literacy. Other courses include:  website development, leadership and personal development  as well as vocational and skills acquisition training”.
She explained that the training was conducted  in collaboration with North East Children’s Trust and Grow With Data Youth Foundation;  all private sectors, based in Adamawa and Borno.
In her address, Nnenna Mosugu,  the Executive Director of  Grow With Data Foundation, said that the Boko Haram experiences  in North Eastern Nigeria in the last 10 years had become an eye opener that made the organisations to team up to train the youth.
“All the graduates are orphans who lost their parents to Boko Haram insurgents and we picked them  from various Internally Displaced Persons Camps from  Maiduguri in  Borno. We trained them in various entrepreneurship skills to enable them create employment opportunities for themselves”.
She said the training given to the participants would help them start their own small scale businesses and improve their livelihood.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees and the Borno government ,Alhaji Bako Kurna, thanked the organisations for the support and training of their youths.
Kurna urged the initiators to expand the programme to cover other states in the region in order to solve the worrisome idleness being faced by millions of youths in the region.
