The reviewed Service Reflective Tariff (SRT) of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) will not affect consumers experiencing average power supply availability of less than 12 hours per day over a period of one month, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has said.
Mr John Ayodele, IBEDC Chief Operating Officer made the clarification in a statement he issued in Ibadan.
According to him, the decision is part of the commission’s efforts to deliver excellent service to its customers.
Ayodele said the new tariff would be commensurate with the quality and availability of power supply committed to each cluster of customers on the platform of SRT.
He explained that the management of IBEDC had begun the implementation of SRT on Tuesday as approved by NERC.
He said the review was critical to the provision of efficient and reliable service to customers, upgrading the ageing infrastructure and be responsive to the complaints of the customers.
“The new tariff plan will not only empower us to provide better service, but will also promote fairness. We, therefore, appeal for the understanding and cooperation of our esteemed customers as we commence the implementation of the SRT through prompt payment of electricity bills and vending as we are committed to delivering improved service”.
