Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has given a marching order to Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of zonal and state commands in South Eastern and South-South geopolitical zones of the country to re-jig the security architecture in their Areas of Responsibility (AORs) and ensure the restoration of law and order.
While noting that the South-East and South-South geo-political zones of the country were critical in the socio-economic stability and growth of the nation, the IGP said no intelligence, operational and administrative efforts should be spared in ensuring that the security challenges in the zones are surmounted.
He gave the directives on Friday when he met with zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Commissioners of Police and Deputy Commissioners of Police (Operations), at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Baba charged the AIGs and CPs in the two zones to return to their commands and implement resolutions reached at the meeting, especially on intelligence-led and community-driven operational strategies, to ensure security of lives and property in the region.
Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, said in a statement on Friday, that meeting was part of efforts by the new police leadership to critically diagnose the security threats in the region and evolve new policing strategies and responses towards redressing the situation.
