Kidnappers Demand N95M for Seven Victims Abducted in FCT, Kwara

Gunmen have abducted seven persons from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kwara State.

Four persons were taken from Abuja and three from Kwara.

The bandits demanded a collective N95 million for the abductees.
The Abuja incident took place in the early hours of yesterday in Kiyi community in Kuje District.

A staff member of FCTA, Salami Olalekan, was among the four kidnapped persons who were taken into a nearby forest without any resistance from any quarters.

Olalekan’s elder brother William said the gunmen took cash, phones and a cooking pot before disappearing with him. The three other persons were seized from homes the hoodlums broke into.

Olalekan’s family member told The Nation that the abductors called, demanding N50 million for the release of their brother, who was taken away in front of his wife.

Police spokesman Mariam Yusuf confirmed the abduction, saying operatives were on the trail of the gunmen.

In Kwara, six armed kidnappers abducted three farm managers at commercial poultry farms in Pampo community, Asa council area of the state.

The incident took place on Monday, The Nation reports.

It was also gathered that the abductors came in a Hilux van and were dressed in army uniform.

They reportedly shot into the air, seized the chief security officer in one of the farms and locked him up in a room before proceeding to grab two others, a source said.

The owner of the second farm, Mirola Farm, said the bandits abducted his manager on their way out of the community.

The farmer said the gunmen later called to demand N45 million for the release of the abductees.

“On Monday at about 4:30pm six suspected kidnappers in Army uniform heavily armed with AK 47 rifles abducted three farm managers in our farms. They took two males and one female,” one of the farm owners said.

Police spokesman Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident, saying the commissioner of police Mohammed Bagega told his men to ensure the safe release of the abductees.
