Mr Yusuf Gagdi, member representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency in Plateau, has constructed and furnished a secretariat for his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kanam Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the inauguration of the structure on Saturday in Kanam, Gagdi said the project gulped over N28 million.
He said he was moved by the absence of a befitting accommodation for his party in the area, and therefore, embarked on the project.
According to him, the gesture is his personal contribution to the growth of the party in the area.
Gagdi, who hails from the area, said that the project was not part of his constituency project, adding that it was aimed at advancing the course of democracy in his constituency.
“This is part of my personal contribution to the growth of democracy. I used my personal funds to construct and furnish this structure. Before now, our party here didn’t have a befitting accommodation and that moved me to do this”
The lawmaker promised to replicate the same in the other two local government areas that make up his constituency.
Inaugurating the building, the Chairman of APC in the state, Mr Latep Dabang, commended the lawmaker for the gesture.
Dabang called on other members of the party occupying public offices to emulate the gesture for the growth of the party in the state.
