A man who plotted the abduction of twelve children of the same parents, says he has transported and handed over the victims to Boko Haram, an extremist sect in Northeastern Nigeria, as new members.
In an unusual act which occurred at Vinikilang community in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State, perplexed locals recoiled in horror as the siblings were seized – the oldest aged 20, while others are between six and 12 years old.
Among the children are four female and eight males, a security source familiar with the incident told Scudnews on Friday.
Some of the victims were identified as six-year-old Nuhu Mohammed; Isa Mohammed, aged 7, Musa Mohammed, 8; Khalil Mohamed, aged 9, and Aisha Mohammed, 10.
Others are 12-year-old Rukaiya Mohammed; Ibrahim Mohammed, aged 20 and Sumaiya Mohammed.
However, Scudnews could not immediately ascertain the names of three other victims as of the time of filing this report.
It was learned that though the incident occurred in July 2024, Hamza Magaji, elder brother of the children’s mother reported it to the police at about 6.30pm on Thursday, August 15, after he received a phone call from Ibrahim Adamu, suspected to have plotted the abduction.
Ibrahim, who had reportedly connived with his brother, Mohammed Adamu to perpetrate the act, had allegedly told Magaji on phone that he had delivered the children to the Boko Haram sect as new members.
The police in Adamawa said an investigation into the incident has commenced, but was silent on whether an arrest had been made.
