A yet-to-be identified man has jumped 7 floors to his death in a bid to avoid officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC at 1004 Estate, Victoria Island on Thursday.
Some officials of the anti-graft agency had reportedly shown up at the Estate to fish out and effect the arrest of a crime suspect who was not in any way connected to the deceased.
Lagos State Police command through its spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incidence, saying the deceased was a guest at the estate and was never the target of the raid.
The spokesperson said this in a statement to newsmen confirming that the police is trying to trace his identity so as to relay the tragic incident to his family.
”We recorded a case of yet-to-be identified young man that jumped from the 7th floor of the 1004 Estate, VI, Lagos, today at about 8.45am when operatives of the EFCC were on operation at the Estate. Based on preliminary findings, the deceased was not even a target of the operatives. And he was a guest at the estate. Its quite unfortunate. We will try and trace his identity so as to relay the incident to the family and take necessary police action.” Adejobi’s statement read.
The case has since been transferred to the homicide unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
