A man who kept his two-year-old son in the custody of a neighbour and embarked on a journey returned ten months after to a shocking find.
Mr. Chidi Godwin, a resident of Umuogele village Ovom 1, Aba, Abia State, arrived home on January 5 and discovered that his neighbour simply identified as Mr. Ekom, whose custody he kept his son while he travelled in March 2023, had packed out of his home. He did not also find his son.
Godwin, an unmarried artisan, had trusted Ekom when he handed him custody of Eziomume Chidi, his two-year-old son while he travelled to Owerri, Imo State for work.
While away, he sent his neighbour funds for the upkeep of the child, according to sources, but came back months later to realise that his strong belief on Ekom was misplaced.
One week later, a distraught Godwin discovered that his son had been sold to a woman resident in Aba, Abia State by his neighbour who disappeared without trace after committing the act.
A frantic search for the child led to the puzzling find which Godwin reported to the police station at Ogbor-Hill, Aba on January 13.
Mrs. Amaka Nzem, a 53-year-old woman resident at No. 21 Amucha Road, Aba, who allegedly bought the child for a yet-to-be ascertained sum of money has been, arrested police detectives.
Eziomume Chidi, the boy who was sold has also been recovered from her and handed over to his now joyous father.
The police said an investigation on the incident is ongoing and detectives are on the trail of Ekom, Godwin’s neighbour from the pit of hell who sold a boy kept in his care.
