Malian Transition President, Bah N’Daw, on Thursday named 121 members of the National Council of the Transition (CNT), the legislative body whose duration is 18 months since September, PANA learned from an official source.

Among the Council members are former deputies, former ministers, notables, university professors, men of culture, members or former members of the M5-RFP (June 5 Movement – Assembly of patriotic forces), men and women of the media and many other personalities.

There are more than 25 women out of the 121 members of the CNT whose inaugural session will be held on Saturday at the Bamako International Conference Centre.

Since November 9, 2020, two decrees have been issued by the President of the Transition fixing the terms of appointment of members of the CNT.

According to unconfirmed information, Coloniel Malick Diaw, one of the officers who overthrew the regime of former Malian president Ibrahim Boubacar Kéita on August 18, would lead the CNT. He remained the only one without a post among his companions appointed vice president of the transition and ministers in the transitional government. (PANA)
