Homicide detectives at the Enugu State police command are investigating the circumstances that propelled a man who allegedly murdered his three children in cold-blood four days into the new year and dumped their bodies inside a freezer in his house.
The man’s wife was said to have raised the alarm and reported the incident at the Police Metropolitan Area Command in Enugu at about 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
Mrs. Millicent Amadikwa reportedly complained to the police that she left the three children, Ebube Chukwu aged, 4; Amarachi, aged 8 and Chidialu, aged 11, at home with her husband, Ifeanyi Amadikwa on the ill-fated day but the kids could not be found when she returned to their residence at Ukubor, Emene, a suburb of Enugu.
The woman reportedly told the police that upon a search of the house, the children were found with bruises all over their bodies, stone dead inside a freezer which the husband had brought home the previous day.
Police sources told Scudnews that Millicent, who suspected her husband murdered the children, had also alleged that when he brought the freezer home a day earlier, she inquired the purpose but didn’t get a plausible response.
“When I was questioning him about the freezer he brought home, he claimed a neighbor wanted to buy it but couldn’t mention the person’s name”, she reportedly told the police.
Scudnews learnt that the bodies of the three children were evacuated from the residence by the police and deposited in the morgue at Annunciation Hospital, Emene-Enugu, for autopsy.
The police said Millicent’s husband, Ifeanyi, has been arrested and investigation was ongoing.
